Process & techniques
Every part of the production process is handled in-house here at Antonio Rosa Ceramics, which allows us to integrate our craft with state-of-the-art industrial techniques. Our craftspeople create the models, develop molds, cast the slip into molds, glaze and fire the pieces, and apply various manual finishing techniques that give each piece a distinct final touch.
Our precision mold making generates repeatable shapes on all production runs, while our glazing and firing techniques allow for a wide range of surface treatments, including clean matte surfaces, complex reactive surfaces with metallic accents, or custom pigment options for private label projects. To ensure that both small details and large production runs are held to the same high standard, we test all materials and processes used to manufacture our ceramics for performance, durability and aesthetic quality.
What differentiates the way we manufacture ceramics is the harmony between the artistry of creating and the application of technology to that same process. Utilizing skilled artisans combined with advanced machinery and strict quality control, we produce ceramics that are consistent, creative and technically sound. From the conception of an idea to the refinement of a shape, we tailor our methods to suit the needs of each and every project, always providing precision, flexibility and durability to our customers.
Materials
Earthenware
Earthenware allows a high level of creative freedom, making it ideal for exploring complex shapes, refined details, and rich decorative surfaces. It is widely used in decorative pieces and bathroom accessories, where form, texture, and finish define the final product. At Antonio Rosa Ceramics, we work earthenware with a strong focus on surface development, enabling a wide range of finishes, from precise hand-applied decoration to controlled glaze effects. Each piece is tested to ensure consistency, stability, and production reliability, while maintaining a high level of aesthetic quality.
Stoneware
Stoneware is selected for its superior strength and durability, making it particularly suitable for functional products and tableware. Its technical performance allows it to withstand intensive use while supporting clean, contemporary design languages.
We develop stoneware pieces with a focus on both performance and finish, working across matte, glossy, and textured surfaces. All materials and finishes are rigorously tested to ensure consistency, resistance, and long-term reliability in production, without compromising on design.

Techniques
Glazing by Dip or Spray
Glazing can be applied by immersion or spray, depending on the form of the piece and the desired finish. Immersion allows for full and even coverage, making it ideal for consistent production, while spray application offers greater control over thickness, gradients, and surface effects. Both techniques are carefully selected according to the technical and aesthetic requirements of each project. This flexibility allows us to achieve uniform results or more nuanced finishes, always ensuring quality, adhesion, and durability throughout the production process.
Reactive or Simple Glazes
We work with a wide range of glazes, from simple, uniform finishes to more complex reactive surfaces. Simple glazes provide clean, consistent results with precise color control, ideal for contemporary and minimal designs. Reactive glazes, on the other hand, create depth, variation, and unique visual effects through controlled chemical reactions during firing. Each glaze is developed and tested to ensure stability and repeatability in production, while maintaining the richness and character that define the final piece.

Slips (Engobes)
Engobes are applied to the ceramic surface before glazing, allowing us to introduce color, texture, and subtle variation directly onto the body of the piece. This technique enhances depth and creates a more integrated decorative effect, as the engobe becomes part of the ceramic surface rather than sitting on top of it. It is particularly effective for achieving soft, natural finishes or layered visual effects. All applications are carefully controlled to ensure consistency, adhesion, and compatibility with subsequent glazing and firing processes.
Hand Painting
Hand painting introduces a crafted and expressive dimension to ceramic pieces, allowing for detailed decoration and artistic variation. This technique is used to apply patterns, accents, or fine details that require precision and a human touch. While maintaining consistency within production, hand-applied decoration ensures that each piece retains a sense of individuality and character. Our team works with controlled methods and tested materials to guarantee durability and color stability, ensuring that decorative elements remain consistent and resistant over time.
Decals
Decals are used to apply detailed and precise designs onto ceramic surfaces, offering a reliable solution for complex patterns, branding elements, or fine graphic work. This technique ensures consistency across large production runs while maintaining high visual accuracy. After application, the pieces undergo an additional firing process to permanently fix the decoration onto the surface. This results in durable, resistant finishes that retain their quality over time, making decals an ideal solution for both decorative and functional ceramic products.
Quality & Sustainability
At Antonio Rosa Ceramics, quality is embedded at every stage of production. We carefully check each piece, from choosing materials to the final inspection, to make sure our collections are consistent, durable, and accurate. By handling quality control ourselves, we keep our standards high and adjust our process to fit each project’s needs.
We approach sustainability through responsible manufacturing practices and long-term planning. We focus on using materials efficiently, keeping production cycles controlled, and reducing waste at every stage. We continuously optimize the use of our resources to lower our environmental impact while still delivering quality and performance.
As a family-owned company with decades of experience, we see sustainability as continuity. We invest in skilled people, preserve ceramic know-how, and build lasting partnerships. By balancing quality, responsibility, and innovation, we create ceramic products designed to last both technically and aesthetically.
